Chair of Department

The RCT Department is responsible for the development and review of ICT policies and strategies for the University, development of proposals and concept papers for external projects and funding, conduct of cutting-edge research and presentation of research papers, nurturing and packaging of research outcomes into valuable products to meet the demands of the national and international community and ICT capacity building for the University and the National economy. The department is a strategic revenue generator for the University through ICT research, consultancy and training.

Salome Wachira

The IS department is responsible for information security, business continuity, and preparedness for cyber disasters within the University. Its specific responsibilities include implementing information security controls across ICT infrastructure, systems, and services to safeguard digital assets. The department conducts research, monitoring, and evaluation of information security incidents, and implements appropriate measures to mitigate their impact. It is also responsible for keeping the institution informed about the current information security status. Key functions include conducting penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and systems audits to identify and address security gaps. Additionally, the IS department manages firewalls and antivirus systems, and oversees backup and recovery operations to ensure data protection and continuity in case of disruptions.
