A professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (College of Engineering and Technology), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Specialist in agricultural processing and farm structures, agricultural machinery and power systems, simulation and modeling of agricultural systems, and in renewable energy. Has over 30 years’ experience in teaching, research and development. Published 98 peer reviewed articles in internationally renowned journals by April 2023; presented over 50 articles in conferences. Successfully supervised 19 PhD and 25 MSc students by May 2023. Currently supervising 7 PhD and 7 MSc. students. External examiner: Department of Agricultural Engineering (Egerton University; June 2017-present) and Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (University of Eldoret; December 2017-present). Has internally/externally reviewed/refereed 70 thesis. Has attracted funding for 26 research/consultancy projects; the most recent major ones being:

Has been a key consultant in the following consultancy works: (a) Valuation of Tana and Arthi River Development Authority assets–valuer for farm equipment, water systems and treatment works, afforestation and irrigation projects, December 2005–March 2006; (b) Technical assessment of an earth dam for Kenya Methodist University, Meru, 17–18 May 2007; (c) Athi Water Service Board–evaluation of community based ablution blocks in Kibera, Korogocho and Mukuru (12 November 2009–30 March 2010); (d) Baseline survey for Green Zones Development Support Project (January–June 2010);           (e) Development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework, and a Branding and Marketing Plan for the “Low emission and climate resilient development project”, UNDP, 21 March to 4th May 2016), and in various capacity building assignments, both locally and regionally.
