JKUAT was honoured for its efforts in advancing gender equality and workplace inclusion at the 2025 edition of the USAWA Awards, held in Nairobi on 9Th June 2025.
The annual awards, hosted by the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), also marked the official launch of the Commission’s Fourth Strategic Plan (2025–2029).
Presiding over the ceremony, Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, and Children Services, Ms. Hanna Wendot Cheptumo, emphasized that equality is a constitutional right, not a privilege. Citing Article 27 of the Constitution, she reaffirmed the State’s duty to guarantee equal protection and non-discrimination for all citizens. The CS lauded NGEC as a key institution offering legal and moral guidance on matters of equality and inclusion.
