Through funding from The Nature Conservancy (TNC), the Water Research and Resource center (WARREC) is implementing a project aimed at automating river monitoring in the Upper Tana. The project also aims at carrying out biophysical data analysis as part of research inputs, knowledge management and Institutional capacity development (component 3) of the IFAD-funded Upper Tana- Nairobi Water Fund (UTNWF) Project. This funding is an output of the signed MoU between JKUAT and TNC and will offer fifteen (15) Msc. Scholarships to JKUAT.
Implementation of the project started, reconnaissance visits have done and now in the process of installing Telemetric stations on the 6 RGS within the NCWSC mandate areas. On completion of the installation of these gadgets, real data transmission for the various parameters enabled will be guaranteed.
The project is being implemented by WARREC in collaboration with the Soil Water and Environment Engineering Department- JKUAT, Water Resource management Authority (WRMA) and the Nairobi City Water and Sewarage Company (NCWSC).
