WARREC represents the University in Tana Catchment conservation

IMG_20161104_130045Through its Water and Research and Resource Center (WARREC), JKUAT participated in the tree planting event held on 4th November 2016 at Ndakaini dam, organized by Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC). JKUAT was represented by Prof. Patrick Home, Ag. Director WARREC and other JKUAT staff and students.

The tree planting is an annual event organized by the NCWSC and is meant to protect the catchment of the Ndakaini dam, the largest source of water for Nairobi.

The event was attended by people from various cadres and institutions, including local schools, conservation groups. A total of 8000 tree seedlings were planted during the event.

Other staff from JKUAT also took part accompanying Prof. Home were Wycliffe Nyangau, Paul Kahiga and Rosalin Mukua, Peter Ayugi, Johnstone Neondo, Halake Guyo and Students from the Soil, Water and Environmental Engineering Department (SWEED).

Everyone made their hands dirty and dutifully planted trees to conserve the environment.
