Through its Director Prof. Bancy Mbura Mati, the Water Research and Resource Center (WARREC) participated in COP21 in Paris. Invited by Climdev and sponsored by Cornell University the Director attended the Climate conference which show System of Rice Intensification (SRI) film produced in 2013 screened.
Sessions during Cop21
Invited by UNFCCC, to the side event of the Sustainable Innovation Forum 2015, Prof. Bancy Mati took part as a panelist in the discussion of the newly enacted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the Stade de Paris. The Sustainable Innovation Forum (SIF2015) was the largest business focused event at the 2015 annual Conference of Parties (COP).The event convened cross-sectoral participants from business, Government, finance, UN, NGOs and civil Society to create an unparalleled opportunity to bolster business innovation and bring scale to the emerging green economy. On the sidelines on the main Cop21 meeting, prof. Mati also attended another side event on Sustainable Land Management hosted by FAO and NEPAD.

It seems climate change is receiving the policy push it needs as a global challenge, where diverse stakeholders are planning on meaningful solutions and actions.
