Department Marks Farewell Friday

In recognition of many years of sterling service provided by some of its staff, the department hosted a luncheon to commemorate the retirement of Ms. Lucy Munari, Mr. Ernest Ngirici and Mr. Erasmus Gatimu. The celebration was held on Friday, 21 August 2015 and held in the university VIP lounge.

In an event dubbed ‘Farewell Friday’, departmental staff, led by the Chair, Dr. Freda Wanzala, feted the exemplary service and contributions made by the retirees, each of whom had served the institution for over 25 years. In an occasion characterized by excellent food, convivial company and a heady atmosphere, the retirees were cited for their reliability, integrity, professionalism and spotless work record.

Each retiree was accompanied by a ‘Significant Other’, which enhanced the family atmosphere of the occasion.

Every participant had the opportunity to reminisce and share with the group, while the retirees offered up interesting insights gained from their personal observations of the development of the Department of Horticulture and their perspective as they transition to a new stage in life.
