Department holds a successful PhD curriculum review

The Department of Food Science and Technology held a one day workshop to review the PhD  Food Science and Nutrition curriculum. The event was graced by the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr David Mburu, who requested the stakeholders to strengthen the partnerships with the department to foster quality of the programme.

The workshop was attended by the food science, technology, nutrition and hospitality sectors across the country, current and prospective students as well as staff from the department. The stakeholders aired their views on what the industry requires and the comments were carefully discussed and considered for inclusion into the new curriculum. The industry also pledged to support the programme through collaborative research activities and sourcing of funding for the students.

The programme is now structured to be effective and convenient to the students but also offer current level of training. Current trends and advances in the field of food, nutrition and hospitality were incorporated into the curriculum. The programme will have an intake in January 2016.
