What are the most marketable courses?

All courses can be marketable if you build strong, relevant skills in your chosen field. Master your craft, and opportunities will follow both locally and internationally.

How do I view my fee statement?
  • Fees paid through banks are reflected immediately in the portal.
  • For bank transfers or agent payments, visit the Student Finance Office with the bank
    slips.

What if I’m missing the required subject combination?

This may be due to incorrect subject selection in Form 2. Consider alternative courses based on your strengths.

How do I report for a session and register for units?
  • Must be done within the first 4 weeks of the semester.
  • Visit https://portal.jkuat.ac.ke/ > Session Reporting > Unit Registration.
How do I apply for deferment?
  • Write a deferment letter explaining your reason, addressed to the Chair of your department
  • Attach your admission letter
Are diploma and SSP programs government-sponsored?
  • No. However, diploma programs in some TVETs are government-sponsored.
  • You can apply for HELB loans for degree programs.
What if I didn’t meet the requirements for my preferred course?

You can begin at a certificate or diploma level and progress to your desired level of study.

Can I pursue two-degree courses at the same time?
  • Yes, but the government will only sponsor one. You must self-sponsor the second.
  • Career Tip: Avoid overloading to prevent underperformance. Focus on one and pursue the second later if possible.
How are cluster points calculated?

Cluster points range from 1 (E) to 12 (A Plain), with a focus on core subjects relevant to the course.

How do I change my course after admission?
  • You will be required to first report for admission, then wait for guidelines on when and how to change course.
  • Change of course is usually an online process through the application/admission portal. KUCCPS requirements on cutoff points are strictly followed. So before course change, first ensure that you qualify
  • Please note that, Change of course is only for GoK students. As for SSP students, you are required to withdraw from your current course and apply afresh for your new course to be considered alongside other applicants.
How do I book a hostel room?
  • Hostel booking announcement is normally indicated on the admission letter as a tentative date for room booking. Before the due date, we normally advertise and give guidelines on how to apply.

How do I access or reset my student portal/email account?

Creating Portal Account:
Visit www.jkuat.ac.ke > University Notice Board > JKUAT Student Portal. Click Sign Up and follow the prompts.
Resetting Passwords:
Click Forgot Password? and follow the instructions.
For student email, if prompted to contact admin, visit the IS Department (IEET Building, 2nd Floor) or email customercare@jkuat.ac.ke with your student email and registration number.

How do I activate my student email?
  • Visit www.jkuat.ac.ke > University Notice Board > Activate Your Student Email
    or use https://emailgen.jkuat.ac.ke/
  • Enter your registration number as it appears in your admission letter. Instructions will
    be displayed.
  • Use your student email for university matters (excluding admission and hostel
    booking system for new students).
How do I connect to Eduroam WiFi?
  • WiFi accounts are created by the Information Security Department by the second week of the semester.
  • Visit www.jkuat.ac.ke > Student Resources > Eduroam for login steps.
  • For support, visit ICT offices situated at the Old COHRED Building next to the Assembly Hall
  • Login instructions are also sent to student emails.
How do I make an application?
  • Visit https://www.jkuat.ac.ke/ click "Apply Now" or go directly to https://application.jkuat.ac.ke/.
  • Create an account using a personal email (preferably Gmail or Yahoo) and a password you can remember.
  • Proceed with the application process as guided.
How do I download my admission letter?
  • Visit www.jkuatadmission2024.jkuat.ac.ke.
  • Create a new account using your personal email and KCSE index number with year.
  • Use a computer/laptop to download and print ALL attached documents. Fill them out
    and upload them online as instructed.
What is the admission procedure?
  1. Government-Sponsored Students:
    After receiving your KUCCPS placement letter, JKUAT will process your official admission letter. You'll receive an SMS once it's ready and guidance on how to download the admission letter and other documents by creating an account with the link provided.
  2. Self-Sponsored Students:
    Admission letters are issued approximately 4–5 weeks after application. Check the application portal for updates.
