Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), through the College of Engineering and Technology has signed an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for training students and professionals on sustainability in buildings. This is through a short course called Design for Greater Efficiency (DfGE). This will make JKUAT the first university in Kenya to have such an arrangement with IFC. The course which is targeting senior engineering and building design students and working professionals in architecture, structural and building services engineering, seeks to equip trainees with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that support the built environment to move onto a low-carbon and sustainability path. Scheduled to commence on 27th of March 2023 and run for five days, the course will cover the fundamentals of energy and resource efficiency measures in building design from a technical and commercial perspective.
IFC having conducted the Training of Trainers (ToT) to COETEC Staff, has gone further to provided trainers with the training materials and the EDGE software which is a key tool for the training.
