The 13th Series of the annual Sustainable Research and Innovation (SRi) Conference is all set at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology main campus in Juja, Kenya. This year’s conference that is being held on the 5th and 6th of October 2022 is one that has been opined to present researchers in the various engineering disciplines an opportunity to disseminate research findings and innovations. Through the submissions by interested participants already received and processed for presentation in the conference by the secretariat, it is evident that indeed research cuts across the various players in engineering that include: academic institutions, the industries, research organizations and government agencies.
Themed Sustainable Research in Science, Technology and Innovation During and Post COVID-19, this year’s conference will have over 40 research and innovation papers’ presentations broken down into the various sub-theme sessions to be hosted in three breakout rooms.

To further enhance the objective of the conference, there will be 3 key note addresses as well as two guest presentations by international researchers from Asia and Europe who have vast experience in Engineering research in their areas of specialization. The three key note speakers are:
- Dr. -Ing. Henning Zeidler, who is the Chair, Additive Manufacturing at Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany.
- Apanee Luengnaruemitchai, Professor at the Petroleum and Petrochemical College,
Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.
- Takeharu SAKAI, Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Tottori University, Japan.
The guest presenters on the other hand will be:
- Tonghathai Likhitweerawong, Project Manager, JICA Technical Cooperation Project for ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (JICA Project for AUN/SEED-Net), Thailand.
- Nuwong Chollacoop, Director, Low Carbon Energy Research Group, National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), Thailand

Being a conference aimed at strengthening the link between academia and industry for relevance and increased uptake and commercialization of research findings and innovations, the chief guest was purposefully sort from the industry players. Dr. Lawrence Njogu Kimando Ph.D, the General Manager, Strategy, Research and Compliance – Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO). Dr. Kimando is a career Entrepreneur who has vast experience in strategic analysis, research, entrepreneurship, monitoring & evaluation who might help demystify the paradox of commercialization of research findings and innovations a very key component of the conference aims.

The conference as is the tradition from its inception shall be hosted by the College of Engineering and Technology within JKUAT lead by the College Principal Dr. Eng. Hiram Ndiritu. It will also be graced by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi along with the three Deputy Vice-Chancellors for Administration & Finance, Academic Affairs and Research Production & Extension.
