Dr Thuo congratulates the committee on a job well done
Postgraduate specialist trainees interested in the two new Masters programs in Emergency Medicine and Dermatology at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) will begin classes in May 2022.
The programmes were launched by the School of Medicine in collaboration with Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in September 2021, following the signing of an MoU in December 2020, by JKUAT and KNH.
According to the MoU, JKUAT will provide teaching services, while KNH will serve as a clinical training venue.
At a meeting held at JKUAT on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, the selected joint committee on implementation of the JKUAT/KNH partnership finalized their report, which was a culmination of a series of meetings held since January 2022.
The multi-disciplinary joint committee, chaired by Head of Dermatology, KNH, Dr. Hannah Wanyika, was constituted to review the modalities of the programmes prior to their commencement in May 2022.

During the review process, the committee, which was comprised of academicians, consultant doctors, and administrators, worked on key areas such as identifying gaps and resources, as well as monitoring and evaluation plans. and then made recommendations to ensure effective service delivery.
The process, which focused on curriculum development as well as enhancing teaching facilities and resource centers for both programs, was aimed at ensuring that the academic programs were of high quality and implemented successfully.
The meeting was attended by Ag. Principal, College of Health Sciences, Dr. Reuben Thuo, Ag. Dean, School of Medicine, Dr. Justus Simba, and Dr. Hannah Wanyika, among others.
