COETEC Hosts EBK Workshop on Career Pathways and Accreditation

The Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), the body responsible for the registration of engineers and engineering firms in Kenya, conducted an engineering education outreach workshop for JKUAT engineering students.

The workshop which took place on April 11, 2025, at the JKUAT Assembly Hall, brought together students from various departments within the College of Engineering and Technology (COETEC).

The event featured an interactive question-and-answer session, where students engaged with the speakers, shared suggestions, and discussed ways to improve the engineering field for both aspiring and practicing professionals.

In his opening remarks, the Principal of COETEC, Dr. Eng. Hiram Ndiritu, thanked the students for their attendance and commended the college for its strong portfolio of EBK-recognized engineering programs.

The chief guest, Eng. Otieno Abich, addressed the students on the mandate of EBK, its significance in the engineering profession, and how students can register with the board upon graduation. He also shed light on various career pathways within the engineering sector.

He urged the students to register with the EBK upon graduation to enhance their professional credibility and open up more career opportunities.

Edwin Mwai, Chairperson of the Society of Engineering Students (SES) and a fourth-year civil engineering student, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the event. He encouraged fellow students to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop, emphasizing its long-term value in their careers.
