JKUAT Mombasa Alumni Gala Dinner 2.0 – Rooted in Legacy, Growing Through Connection

The much-anticipated JKUAT Mombasa Alumni Gala Dinner 2.0 took place on 4th October 2025 at Sapphire Hotel. The event brought together alumni, faculty and industry partners for a memorable evening of reconnection, inspiration and celebration.

The dinner was graciously hosted by Director of JKUAT Mombasa Campus, Dr. Evelyn Datche, who warmly welcomed all guests and alumni. In her opening remarks, she celebrated growth of the campus community and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong professional networks, lifelong learning and giving back to the institution that shaped their journeys. She urged alumni to remain ambassadors of JKUAT and to seize opportunities for collaboration that contribute to personal and societal development.

This was followed by a heartfelt address from Ms. Diana Sifuna, Alumni Chairlady, who spoke about the power of alumni connections in creating opportunities, mentorship and collective impact beyond graduation.

A captivating panel discussion featuring Dr. Fridah Simba – Director, JKUAT TVET, Captain William Ruto – Managing Director, Kenya Ports Authority and Dr. Maingi Ng’ang’a – Deputy G.M & Regional Manager, I&M Bank explored the essential pillars of success — strategic networking, strong values, faith in God, hard work and continuous education. The panelists shared personal stories and offered actionable insights on how alumni can position themselves for growth while remaining grounded in integrity and purpose.

The evening’s highlight was the inspiring keynote address by Mr. Sylvester Kututa – Chairman and Founder, Express Shipping & Logistics (EA) Ltd, who spoke passionately about building a lasting legacy, the importance of strategic connections and how values and purpose-driven leadership can shape impactful careers and businesses.

Guests also enjoyed vibrant entertainment, a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, a memorable gift presentation session recognizing special guests and contributors and engaging networking sessions.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our generous sponsors — I&M Bank, Pandya Memorial Hospital, and Mombasa Laparoscopy and Fertility Centre — for their unwavering support in making this event a resounding success.

Together, we continue to build a strong alumni community—rooted in legacy and growing through connection.
