Victory for JKUAT School of Law

Students receiving a token of appreciation

The JKUAT School of Law made a lasting impression during the just-concluded Daystar Media Moot Court Competition held in Athi River, Kenya. A total of 17 leading law schools attended, making this a nationally recognized event where intellectual exchange, reasoning, and advocacy excellence all came alive.

JKUAT was represented by two committed teams, each consisting of two oralists and one researcher. The teams consisted of Nathan Mwanja, Hannah Wanjiku Kimani, Shawn Gitahi, Anthony Akollo, Ann Wangare, and Peter Gachinga. The teams were well prepared, and their team spirit shone in the thorough understanding and acumen of media law and its changing dimensions. Throughout the competition, the students demonstrated not only their mastery of legal principles but also their ability to apply them persuasively in a moot court setting.

The competition was stiff, pitting students against one another in simulated court proceedings that challenged their research skills, critical thinking, and oral advocacy. However, even with such a high level of challenge, the JKUAT teams stood out at every stage of the event. Their performances reflected the School of Law’s commitment to nurturing competent, confident, and ethically grounded legal professionals.

In attendance was an oralist team comprised of Nathan Mwanja and Hannah Wanjiku Kimani, who gave a stellar performance. Having gone through numerous rounds of arguments and sustaining a high level of skill, the two made it to the grand finals. In the highly competitive and intellectually charged final round, they came out on top to be declared the overall winners of the 2025 Daystar Media Moot Court Competition.

This win is a landmark moment in the history of the JKUAT School of Law. The victory emphasizes not only the strength of the moot court training and academic programs but also cements the school’s position as an emerging leader in legal education within Kenya. The School congratulates the teams for their exemplary achievement and celebrates their dedication, resilience, and commitment to excellence.
