It was a time for the outgoing JKUSA students’ leaders to pass the baton of responsibility and trust to 2025 elected students’ leaders, ensuring continuity and growth of the student body’s collective vision and goals.
The outgoing governor Glen Bravo Mosomi and the team, were celebrated and congratulated for their work, dedication, and achievement for the year 2024. The team reflected on their setbacks and achievements and was proud of the positive impact they have made on their peers and the school population. They boasted on bringing and hosting the Chief Justice of Kenya, Lady Hon. Justice Njoki Ndung’u. Not only have they been able to sway the student body’s activities and events, but their leadership has inspired others to take up leadership roles as early as from year two. They have provided a model by exhibiting qualities such as integrity, teamwork, and resilience, and have set an excellent benchmark for future leaders.

The incoming Governor Miss Wairimu Njeri and team, nevertheless, stepped into this ritual with a mix of enthusiasm and apprehension, in her speech, she mentioned her projects and expectations for the year. They promised to take up their roles as leaders and leave their own mark among the student body. They were encouraged by the Campus principal Prof. Hellen Mberia to recall the trust and confidence placed in them when they take up the baton from the previous generation of leaders, and also embrace teamwork and harmony within the team. They were made aware that they are the current custodians of the student body’s vision and that their decisions and actions will have a long-term impact on the school population and welfare. The incoming team assured the administration they are determined to contribute positively to the life of fellow students and to the school as a whole.

The ceremony was also graced by the Dean School of Law – Dr. Stephen Aminga, The Academics Director – Dr. Kirimi Anthony, Director TVET – Dr. Fridah Simba, among other faculty members. The faculty were present to mentor and give guidance to student leaders. Both the incoming and the outgoing student’s body got an opportunity to come together to show their support and appreciation to each other. It is time to recognize the importance of leadership in the campus community and to challenge all students to take an active role in deciding the future of their campus.
