Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology has acquired a new integrated management system that links individual student’s departmental information into a single real-time profile, in a move aimed at cutting off paper transactions and validating students’ hostel application.
The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system installed at the Hall Manager’s Office Monday, November 19, 2018, has multiple modules including online signing of nominal rolls and access to students account information among others.
According to the Hostel Manager, Mrs. Mary Omurebe, the new system is expected to enhance the integrity of information as well as improving students and hostel management interaction by cutting off manual data entry into the university system.
The Hostel Manager hailed the University Management for introducing the system which she described as a positive step towards improving service delivery and enhancing the level of accountability of the university property under the custody of the students.
For the new system to be integrated successfully, Mrs. Omurebe advised that the students should be sensitized on the requirements of the new platform in order to enable a smooth transition from the current paper records to the new paperless platform.
Mrs. Omurebe further pointed out that the system will ensure students follow the right departmental procedures since information will be relayed from respective departments.
