The University has received a Title Deed for a 1.4 acre plot in Mombasa on which it intends to put up a state of the art campus. The plot is situated along Moi Avenue within the Mombasa Central Business District.
Currently, the University runs a campus at the Mombasa Trade Centre (formerly Ambalal House) along Nkrumah Road within the Central Business District.
While receiving the plot’s Title-Deed from Mr. Garhwal Abhimanyu, one of the Directors of Aster Investments Ltd, the vendors of the plot, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga lauded the vendors for their patience during the process of acquiring the plot. She said the Title Deed was a confirmation that the University’s continued aspiration of availing quality education to Kenyans was still top on its agenda.
On his part, Mr. Abhimanyu expressed optimism that the purpose for which the plot would be used would benefit not only the people of the Coast region, but the country and the world at large. He noted that his investment company had sold the plot to a worthy establishment that had transformed the lives of many.
Others present during the handing over ceremony held at the site were the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Planning and Development Prof. Victoria Ngumi; the Director Mombasa Campus Dr. Fred Mugambi; his deputy, Ms Frida Simba; the University Legal Officer Ms. Vivian Waithaka; University’s Finance Officer Mr. Titus Wasike; the University’s external Lawyer Mr. Patrick Lutta, and Aste’s Property Manager, among others.
