Prof. Paul Worsfold (right) of U.K’s University of Plymouth Devon, School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences explains a point to Prof. Esther Kahangi (JKUAT’s Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research, Production and Extension who represented the Vice Chancellor), Friday August 28 2009. Prof. Worsfold who was in Nairobi attending a conference on Water Quality sponsored by Pan African Chemical Networks in collaboration with Royal Society of Chemistry and hosted by the University of Nairobi took time off to visit JKUAT to familiarize himself with the institution’s Department of Chemistry where a centre of excellence for modern chemical studies focusing on water, air, food and drug analysis was being established with the support of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Plans are underway to expand the center’s capacity through the establishment of a specialized library in the Department to support the new technology.
