UASU Leaders Pay Courtesy Call on the Vice Chancellor

The recently elected University Academic Staff Union (UASU) JKUAT Chapter officials today paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga in her office Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

During the meeting, the UASU Secretary General Prof. Peterson Hinga said his team would  ensure that proper channels of resolving conflict between the employer and the employees would be followed.

Prof Hinga observed that both the Union and the University Management had a role to play towards the good of the society, adding that friction of any nature could be detrimental to the wellbeing of the Union members as well as the general population would be avoided.

In his remarks, UASU Chairman Naftali Rugara Muiga said his union would enhance the existing good working relationship with the relevant authorities at the University and the local administration.

While thanking the Union officials for the courtesy call, Prof. Imbuga congratulated the officials for offering to serve the members in such a demanding office so as to assist members find solutions.

Unions, Prof. Imbuga noted, played a pivotal role in most establishments as the bridge between staff and management adding that her management would extend the desired support.

She commended the elected leaders whom she said was a reflection of the Unions desire for continuity and prosperity.

Others in the delegation included; Mr. Stephen Wanjie, the Union’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Andrew Mwiti – Assistant Secretary General, Mr. Onditi Anam – Treasurer, and Mr. Timona Soita – Assistant Treasurer. Mr James Munyithya and Maureen Kangogo, the Union’s Trustees were also present.
