Second Graduation Ceremony for Mombasa Polytechnic University College

Close to two thousand students who had been registered in different programmes at certificate and diploma levels were released to the job market, Wednesday December 14, 2011 following a successful graduation ceremony staged at Mombasa Polytechnic University College (MPUC), the coastal based constituent university college of JKUAT.  The function presided over by Prof. Francis Gichaga; JKAUT Chancellor was also addressed by a host of dignitaries, mainly from the academic fraternity including Prof. Mabel Imbuga, JKUAT vice chancellor, Prof. Abdulghafur El-Busaidy,Chairman MPUC , Prof. Josephat Mwatela, the University College Principal and Coast Provincial Commissioner Ernest Munyi.

In his address, the Chancellor Prof. Gichaga used the occasion to remind the graduating group of the many challenges ahead encouraging them to confront the challenges with confidence and determination. The future he told the assembly belonged to those with great dreams.’ These people take massive action to transform their great dreams into reality. As long as you work towards great dreams, you will always be young but when your dreams are replaced by hopes and wishes, you will start to grow old’ the chancellor told the congregation.

On her part the vice chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga asked dons to invest their time in relevant research as a way of solving the numerous problems such as diseases, lack of food, corruption and ethnicity that she said remained an eyesore to the majority of the masses in Kenya. In speech read for her by her Deputy Vice-chancellor in charge of academic affairs, Prof. Romunus Odhiambo, Prof Imbuga praised the University College Management for investing in infrastructure development saying it would greatly enhance the provision of higher in the country.
