Students (2015 lot) from the School of Biosystems Engineering (SoBEE) finally graduated on 29th November 2019 in a jubilated fashion. The former students were happy to have successfully gone through their undergraduate studies in their respective programmes and charged skill-wise for the market. The dean, Dr. Eng. Kituu and the entire school fraternity wishes the graduates the very best in their after-life and most essentially in their professional endeavors.
Dr. Eng. Kituu was re-elected unopposed for his second term as the Dean for the School of Biosystems and Environmental Engineering (SoBEE). The entire SoBEE fraternity louds the dean and wishes him the very best as he endeavors to continue with his good works of bettering the school. We wish to inform all our esteemed stakeholders that the program BSc. Environmental Engineering and Technology (EET) has been transferred from the department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABED) to Soil, Water and Environmental Engineering (SWEED). The program provides skills, education and required training to undertake responsibilities of an engineering technologist in managing, protecting, developing and using fresh water resources. SWEED has necessary capacity to effectively facilitate the program and welcomes all interested and qualified students to sign in for the program in the next intake.
SoBEE students were ushered back for a fresh and seemingly bright semester in a session attended by staff members of SoBEE. Students were encouraged to stay focused and committed to excelling in their studies. Dr. (Eng.) Stephen Ondimu on behalf of the dean, graced the event that was culminated in fashion. It is the spirit of SoBEE to continually build cohesion between students and staff, and provide a purely-conducive learning environment. We wish all the students the very best, as they strategically position for yet another great time of interaction and learning.
It was all joy and thanksgiving when the newly developed aquaculture curriculum passed the accreditation test and now included in the list of courses offered under SoBEE. Every hand was appreciated for the vital roles and concerted efforts in seeing the curriculum passed. The focus in this degree is combining a strong background in the natural sciences with the understanding of health and safety issues, practical and management issues and business and communication skills.
First years in the School of Biosystems and Environmental Engineering (SoBEE) were welcome to the School in a colourful event led by the Dean, Dr. Gareth Kituu. Teachers in the field of Agriculture from across the country attended an Agricultural training in JKUAT, with demonstrations done at the School of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (SoBEE). They were taken through a vast of Agricultural machinery at the School and the recent technological developments. The Dean of the School Dr. Eng. Gareth Kituu encouraged the spirit of disseminating information and embracing technology to realize the country’s Agricultural potential and enhance food security as part of Kenya’s Big Four Agenda.
The 2019 finalist students for Bsc. Water and Environmental Management (WEM) and Bsc. Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) held a thanksgiving party to mark successful completion of their undergraduate studies. The event was attended by finalist students for the two programmes, representatives from the student leadership, staff for SoBEE, including the Dean Dr. (Eng.) Gareth Kituu and the COETEC principal Dr. (Eng.) Hiram Ndiritu who graced the event. Keynote speeches were presented and thereafter the event culminated through a lit cake-cutting session.
