Treatment of water differs from community to community depending on the volumes of water accessing the treatment plant. Water runoff from the surface will more often than not require more filtration, and subsequent treatment because of the debris as opposed to ground water. Due to the importance of water in everyday public health activities and probability of contamination, it is important that proper treatment and removal of agents that may cause disease occurs. How this is done encompasses an important role of public health trainees.
