The School Law was established in 2008 with the first intake of Bachelor of Laws students being in June 2008. Currently the School has a population of 340 Bachelor of Laws students in all years of studies.
The School of Law is located at JKUAT Karen Campus, which is on Pala Close, off Bogani Road.
Vision and Mission
The vision of the JKUAT School of Law is to be a world class Law School innovatively integrating science and technology in the dissemination and preservation of legal knowledge and committed to the virtues of quality and relevance; and in this context to contribute to the dynamic socio-economic and cultural development in Kenya, Africa, and the world at large through training.
The mission of the School is to produce excellent technology-conversant law graduates tooled to contribute to national, regional and international development and to serve the legal profession and the community through innovative, relevant, comprehensive and integrated programmes and research
About Law Programme
The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree provides students with a sound knowledge of the principles of the Kenyan, regional and international legal systems. Graduates are empowered to critically assess, interpret and apply the law with a historical, comparative and jurisprudential background that is essential for a thorough and critical understanding of law and legal institutions.
The Bachelor of Laws degree curriculum includes a skills component which teaches students generic practical skills such as problem solving, analysis, research and practical legal skills such as legal writing, drafting and argumentation. Law students are required to make constructive use of the knowledge and skills they acquire by contributing to national development and the community through legal aid, community service, street law and similar outreach activities.
