Message From The Dean

The School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SoBE) is one of the two schools in the College for Human Resource Development (CoHRED). The School offers industry-oriented programmes designed to help students prepare themselves for service in the broad field of business by applying sound business principles and business related information technology as either creative employees or entrepreneurs by being able to combine knowledge, skills and experiences to recognize opportunities, identify alternative solutions, make choices and implement decisions in effective management of organizations today.

The School attracts a large student population from both within the country, the African Region and beyond. The enormous growth in student population is based on the School’s popularity that is attributed to the tradition of quality education programmes offered through its two (2) departments namely, Business Administration and Economics, Accounting and Finance.

The School has highly qualified and experienced academic staff and dependable support staff, headed by the Dean whose role is to support and promote the highest quality educational programs, research, public service and economic development within the school. It has 35 academic members of staff who hold diverse specializations in different fields including: Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Economics, Strategic Management, Human Resource, Entrepreneurship and General Management.

The School offers postgraduate, Masters,’ undergraduate and diploma courses in the field of business management. Currently the School’s total student population is slightly over twelve thousand (12,000) spread across the campuses within and outside the country. It works in collaboration with Kenya School of Monetary Studies to offer Master of Science in Financial Economics, Economic Policy and Analysis; and the Kenya Revenue Authority (Kenya School of Revenue Administration- KESRA) to offer postgraduate diploma in Customs Administration and Tax Administration. In addition, the School is working in collaboration with KASNEB and currently facilitates teaching of CPA, CSIA and ATC programmes.

The School continues to embrace principles of governance and endeavours to demonstrate professionalism while advancing both the vision and mission in the service to community.
