Welcome to the School of Biomedical Sciences (SoBMS) which is under college of Health Sciences (COHES) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. The School has responsibility for 9 undergraduate programmes and additionally offers over 10 integrated Masters in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology and Medical Laboratory Science Programmes. The school currently has just over 1000 full-time registered undergraduate students within the School.
VISION
Our vision is to provide an outstanding learning and teaching environment in which all of our students are supported to achieve their maximum potential.

STAFFING
Undergraduate teaching within the School is well supported by a core team of academic staff, together with dedicated teams of administrative, clerical and technical staff. The courses are all research-led where the learner acquires a combination of subject specific and transferable key skills, which means that they are able to pursue a wide range of professional careers after graduation.
FEATURE
A key feature of the programmes offered at SOBMS is the exposure to research at the highest level. The staff who undertake cutting edge research in the various Research Institutes in the country teach at all levels of our programmes ensuring that our degree programmes reflect the very latest ideas and concepts in medical research. In addition, the students have the opportunity to be part of one of these research teams at some point in their university career, either through undertaking a placement in a Research Institute or working as a part time laboratory assistant or through their final year research project.
I am sure that you will enjoy studying with us here at SoBMS and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about our programmes of study, JKUAT in general or the City and I will be happy to help.
