This Masters Programme is intended to strengthen Economic Policy and Analysis capacity in Kenya and the Region. One of the key gaps in developing countries training programmes is the limited number of professional economists working in the private or public sectors, despite their potential to influence the formulation of business and corporate strategies and shape regulatory policy. The School’s market research and stakeholder input show that very few economists are employed exclusively in specialized areas including of Economic, Public Policy Analysis and environmental economics. Evidence available show that employers are increasingly looking for applicants with the abilities to work in teams, interact with professionals from other disciplines, solve problems and to give practical policy-relevant advice. These employers are looking for well-rounded economists, with good skills across all major areas of economics and are quantitatively highly adept. These are exactly the kinds of skills that the MEPA programme is building.
The target adudiance for this programme include young gradautes who wish to work in economics and management consultancy, as analysts, in regulatory agencies, as government economists, and in healthcare management. It also targest those who work or wish to work as regional economists as well as those who , contribute to development of policy at corporate, country and international agency level
