The department was established in May, 2005 and a committee of Juja Community Development Committee (JCDC) was formed.
The Co-coordinator of the Committee’s activities is Director, Prof. P. G. Ngunjiri.
Membership of the Committee is diverse and inclusive.

JKUAT, Area MP, all District Heads of Government ministries, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Business Community, Civic leaders and Religious leaders.
Mandate
To comprehensively plan Juja location into a University City for the mutual benefit of local community and the University.
