This course has been designed for the professionals involved in the construction industry or recent graduates who have a recognized basic degree in Civil Engineering , Construction Engineering and Management, Architecture or Construction Management, Agricultural Engineering or Biomechanical & Process Engineering or equivalent. The course theory is conducted in Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) while practicals and laboratory work are conducted at the main campus at Juja.
The main objective of the programme is to develop competent and well-rounded construction engineers and managers whole will have skills to source, secure and effectively handle projects in the domestic and international construction market. The Master of Science Degree is be done by course work, examination and thesis.
Admission Requirements
For applicants who have a recognized basic degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering and Management, Building Economics, Construction Project Management or Architecture or Construction Management, or Agricultural Engineering or Biomechanical & Process Engineering or equivalent, the following requirements shall apply;
a) a holder of at least second class honours, Upper Division, degree as underlined above, of JKUAT, or
b) a holder of at least second class honors, Upper Division, degree as underlined above, from any other institution recognized by JKUAT senate as being of equivalent academic status, or a holder of at least second class honors, Upper Division, in a field which is recognized by JKUAT as an adequate prerequisite for the Master of Science in Construction Engineering and Management, or any other equivalent qualification.
c) A holder of second class honors, Lower Division, degree as underlined above, of JKUAT, or any other institution recognized by JKUAT Senate as being of equivalent academic status, and who in addition must show proof of either two years relevant experience and professional development or academic advancement through research, publication and postgraduate certificate course related to construction engineering & management since graduation with the Bachelors degree, or a Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field.
