Who is an Ombudsman?

By definition an Ombudsman is a government official who is appointed to investigate citizen’s complaints against government officials as well as a large public and private corporation. Therefore the office of the Ombudsman functions independently and assists in the informal resolution of concerns regarding a variety of issues which include:

  1. General complaints
  2. Explaining relevant University policies and procedures
  3. Recommending changes to in University policies or procedures that are outdated, ineffectual or arbitrary
  4. Mediating conflicts arising from sexual harassment and discrimination among others
