A prominent member of the Civil Society, Dr. Ekuru Aukot is the new Chairman of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Council.
Dr Aukot, a former Executive Director, Kituo cha Sheria, was appointed by the Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Margaret Kamar through Gazette Notice 798 of January 25, 2013. The appointment is in line with the new Universities Act (No 42 of 2012.
He is the founder and President of the Ekuru Aukot Foundation, which supports education of nomadic and pastoralists boys and girls
The leading law scholar, who played a major role in the review of Kenya’s Constitution replaces Eng. Julius Riungu, and will serve for a period of four years.
Other gazetted members to the Council include; Bertha Joseph Dena, Amb. Steven Arphaxard Loyatum, Dr. Rosa Muraguri Mwololo, John K. Tanui and Dr. Khadija Sood Shikely
