JKUAT Holds First Multimedia Festival

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology turned into a convergence of exceptional talent when seasoned practitioners in media and communication related disciplines and industry players interacted with students, scholars and members of the public during this year’s inaugural JKUAT MultiMedia Festival which was staged today at Juja Main Campus.

The Multimedia Fest, themed: Meet, Know and Share for Industrial Excellence the first of its kind to be held by any university in Kenya, was organized by the Social Science Studies Department, one of the departments in the School of Human Resource Development (SHRD). The event brought together participants from Kenyan universities and colleges with a view to showcase their various media related innovations and projects.

During the festival, students battled for supremacy in various categories including print media, advertising, audio-visual production and public relations. The winners in each category bagged Ksh. 50,000 cash prize.

The festival was graced by several professionals in the industry including Eunice Kariuki of ICT Board; Chair, Public Relations Society Kenya, Kentice Tinkolo; Publishing Editor (Management Magazine) Ms Carole Kimutai; Head of Corporate Communications ( Airtel Kenya) Mr. Dick Omondi; Head of Free and Fair Media, (Internews) Mr Caleb Atemi and Jacek Otffinowski ( Ipsos Synovate) among many others.
