The Vice Chancellor of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi, recently held fruitful discussions with the Executive Vice President & Provost of City University of Somalia, Mr. Abdulkareem Jama, to explore possible collaboration between their institutions.
During the meeting held in the presence of the JKUAT Council Chair, Amb. Mahboub Maalim Mohamed, Prof. Ngumi and Mr. Jama explored several areas of collaboration that JKUAT and City University of Somalia could jointly undertake for the mutual benefit of the two institutions.
It is worth noting that the discussions which were welcomed by both parties centered on several areas, including training and research in Information Communication Technology, Science, Engineering, Fisheries and Agriculture, among others.
They also discussed online teaching and distance learning through the JKUAT School of Distance and e-Learning (SODeL), as a mode of imparting knowledge and skills resident at JKUAT, which has established itself as a leading regional hub in training, research and innovation. Currently, JKUAT is repositioning itself as a research and entrepreneurial University.
Prof. Ngumi and Mr. Jama agreed during the meeting held at the JKUAT Nairobi CBD Campus, to continue sharing ideas with a view of entering into a partnership to be formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between JKUAT and City University of Somalia.
