The University’s website is the 91st most browsed by Kenyans. It is the second most popular local university websites after that of USIU (ranked 87).
The survey was carried out by Alexa, a Web Information Company that computes traffic rankings based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data obtained from diverse traffic data sources. Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis. Reach measures the number of users to a given website, while page views measure the number of pages viewed by site visitors.
The traffic rank is based on a value derived from these two quantities (reach and page views) averaged over time (so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users). This indicates that most people find the JKUAT site relevant and informative.
The University is in the process of re-designing its website to give it a new look that will make it easier to use. The new site has been in operation from July 1, 2009. The project’s focus is on the site’s general outlook, ease of navigation and management of content.
