A delegation of three from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) led by Dr. Tsunoda Manabu are on a weeklong tour of the University to explore and identify areas of collaboration with Pan African University based at JKUAT, Juja main Campus.
This was revealed when the JICA team paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga Friday, February 8, 2013.
The main areas of interest are curriculum, equipment, teaching, students and management among others. Dr. Manabu noted that JICA is keen to partner with JKUAT because of their historical ties which he observed, had bore many fruits making the Institution stand out in the areas of Agriculture and Engineering.
The Vice Chancellor on her part welcomed the collaborative initiative adding that JICA will now become a thematic partner for PAUSTI. She said that the envisaged collaboration is a positive step towards the achievement of the University’s mission.
The JICA team will hand over its report on areas of collaboration to the VC after visiting various departments within the University.
Others who represented JICA during the courtesy call include the Chief Representative, Hideo Eguchi and Deputy Director, Technical and Higher Education Division, Fukuda Hajime while JKUAT was represented by Prof. Esther Kahangi (DVC, Research, Production and Extension) and Prof. Romanus Odhiambo( DVC Academic Affairs).
