Academic advising is an ongoing educational process that connects the student to the faculty. Academic advising supports the University’s mission of preparing the student for learning beyond the confines of the academy. Academic advisors represent and interpret University policies and procedures to the student and help the student navigate the academic and organizational paths of the institution.
In the faculty of Agriculture each class is assigned an academic advisor. Students are encouraged to seek out their class advisor any time they have questions or need assistance. It is the responsibility of the student to consult with the advisor during registration. . Nevertheless, it is the responsibility of the student to fulfill the relevant requirements of the degree. The faculty of Agriculture has also designated the faculty admisnistrator the role of advising students on academic issues, respective departmental Chairs would gladly offer the same services.
For Postdraduate students the faculty in conjuction with the repartments appoints academic advisor to individual students, normally two or more and students are strongly encouraged to consult closely with their advisors on all academic matters
Faculty of Agriculture values quality academic supervision. Good supervision may not be limited to research work only. Academic advisors provide information and direct students to resources that enable sound career and personal choices. And academic advisors serve as models of professional development
