The Faculty of Agriculture is composed of three departments, namely; Food Science and Technology, Horticulture and Land Resources, respectively. Each of the departments offer applied graduate and postgraduate programs, and provide the requisite training to support modern agricultural production and research.
The Faculty is well established, having been constituted in 1981 with the founding of the Jomo Kenyatta University College of Agriculture (JKUCAT). Since its inception, the faculty has undergone numerous changes in line with the changing priorities and concerns in agricultural production. The faculty is subjected to continuous review of both structure and curricula, to ensure the continued relevance of our programs and activities in a rapidly changing world.
The facilities in the faculty are currently some of the best in the region and our infrastructural capacity is further enhanced by engaging highly skilled personnel who undergo continuous improvement through formal academic training, or through applied research. Our faculty members will often be found conducting cutting edge research and participating in collaborative partnerships with the private sector, while alumni from our programs can be found holding key positions in every segment of the agricultural sector, both in Kenya and the wider region.
