Exchange Students Awarded

Vice Chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga (left) presents JKUAT souvenirs to two foreign students from the technical University Graz, Austria, (June 22, 09)who were at JKUAT for ten days following last years’ signing of a MoU between the two institutions. During their stay at the JKUAT, the two students who are studying Architecture, Mr. Johannes Friessing and Mr. Wolfgang Weissberg undertook two separate projects in Kibera and Mt Longonot. The Kibera project is a housing research undertaking attempting to understand the social elements of the slum while the Longonot project is concerned with the design and development of a sports complex. Prof Otoki Moirongo, the former Director of the School of Architecture and Building Science who initiated the MoU who studied for his PhD at the Technical University Graz, Austria looks on.

A sixth year SABS student Mr. Muchira Nguya worked with the Austrian students to develop and design piece of quantities as part of his final year project.
