iCEOD Sub-Task Force

Following recommendation by the Africa -ai– JAPAN Task Force Committee meeting held on 26th May 2016, it was agreed that an iCEOD Sub-Task Force Committee be established.

The objectives of this Sub-Task Force are as follows:

  1. Enable and promote innovations based on open research data published, preserved and accessible for sharing and reuse.

  2. Support and promote conformity with open data principles,  standards and  JORD Policy

  3. Support and enable multidisciplinary research activities.

  4. Enable use and reuse of research data to accelerate innovations and achievement of the Kenya Vision 2030, and the UN  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Kenya and the region

  5. Link and be linked to other open data platforms.

Sub-Task Force activities:

  • To offer infrastructure that enable and promote research data publication, preservation, sharing and reuse.

  • To establish an open research data ecosystem.

  • To enable and promote innovations based on open research data

  • To offer short trainings on data management, data curation, and data plan development.

  • To support and promote conformity with open data principles, standards and  JORD Policy

  • To support data analytics and visualization of research data.

  • To promote and enable multidisciplinary research activities.

  • To enable use and reuse of research data to accelerate innovations and achievement of the Kenya Vision 2030, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Kenya and the region

  • To host a Call Centre.

  • To link and be linked to other open data platforms.

  • To engage researchers to identify social problems their research data addresses and assist them create APIs that ICT developers can use to innovate mobile applications for ease access.

  • Organize events that will stimulate demand and supply of open data such as annual/regular open data workshops and hackathons with prototypes as outputs.
