Most electronic applications used in e-banking, e-government, e-procurement and e-commerce run on web applications layer that is the bedrock for cyber hacking and attack. Despite this understanding, the network servers have received more protection than the web application layer hence exposing it to cyber attacks. This explain why about  two thirds of web application are vulnerable to attack. For this reason, JKUAT is partnering with IBM to build capacity on preventing cyber attacks and securing e-application in Kenya nad the region. JKUAT has IBM certified staff on Cyber Security lead by Prof Muliaro Wafula who are currently training students to equip them with requisit skills to tackle and prevent cyber crime such as leakage of sensitive data, application shut down, remote execution, identity theft and defacement.
