WARREC partners with WSUP and WEDC to train staff on Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

A one week short course training in Water and Sanitation for the urban poor kicked off on Monday 9th November, 2015 at Eserian Hotel, Naivasha. Organized by the Water and Research Center WARREC in collaboration with Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) and Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC) of UK , the training aims at equipping water practitioners with more skills to handle water and sanitation issues hence improve on service delivery.

In her opening speech, the Director Water Research and Resource Center (WARREC) Prof. Bancy Mati stated categorically that JKUAT is committed to Research, Training and Innovation hence the collaborative training with WSUP and WEDC to improve skills on water and sanitation. She commended the participants for having committed their precious time to attend the training to share knowledge and experience so as to improve on service delivery. Prof. Mati thanked the Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) for having financed the training and WEDC for their commitment in the training.

Speaking during the event, WSUP – Country Manager Mr. Karuiki Mugo expressed WSUP commitment to supporting skill development on Water and Sanitation so as to create better environments especially in the peri-urban areas. He wished the participant nice moments during training and commended JKUAT and WEDC for the good partnership that led to the implementation of the training.

 Dr. James Messo- CoD Soil Water and Environmental Department of JKUAT in his sentiments, expressed is passion for Water and Sanitation issues and called more partnerships in tackling WASH issues affecting our communities.

The training is attended by people from varied institutions among them NCWSC, NAWASSCO, MOWASSCO, KIWASCO, Umande Trust, KEWI, NAIVAWASS, KEWASCO, MUWASCO, KWAHO and WSUP enterprises.
