Professor J. M. Kihiu has been elevated to the rank of full professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Prof. Kihiu holds a Masters and a Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering with interdisciplinary specialization in machine components design, design modeling and applied mechanics from the University of Nairobi. He is a registered Engineer who has risen to the level of Fellow Member of Institute of Engineers of Kenya. He worked with the private sector before joining Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in a teaching position; he has carried out extensive research, his main area of specialization being finite element analysis. His work is widely published in local and international journals; he has seven books and twenty seven research papers. He plays an instrumental role in supervision of post graduate students.
Professor S. M. Maranga has been promoted to the rank of full professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has been associate professor in the same department since 1990. Prof. Maranga is a Registered Engineer and is a Degree, Masters and PhD graduate from the University of Nairobi, Stanford University and the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom respectively. Prof. Maranga has held various administrative positions in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Engineering as Departmental Chairman and Dean respectively. With a deficit of about 80,000 marine engineers, Prof. Maranga worked relentlessly to establish this program in JKUAT, which is the first one in the East Africa region. He is also credited for initiating Mining and Minerals Engineering which was started to help the country exploit and benefit from local mineral deposits. Through this program, several Mining Engineers have been trained at Taita Taveta University College previously a campus of JKUAT. He has actively participated in supervision of both undergraduate and post graduate students and has published widely both in local and international journals.
Professor B. W. Ikua is a Masters and PhD holder from the University of Nairobi and Tottori University-Japan respectively. Prof. Ikua has been promoted to the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Prof. Ikua is currently the acting dean in the School of Mechanical, Manufacturing and Materials Engineering. He has held various other administrative positions including; chairman of Mechatronic Engineering Department and coordinator of the Mechatronic Engineering programme. Prof Ikua is a registered Engineer who has published twenty two articles with other scholars in both local and international journals. He plays a very active role in the supervision of both graduate and undergraduate students.
