The final year project presentations for Mechanical Engineering class were held on Wednesday 28th November 2013. The presentations were made in two sessions. One being the oral session followed by the demonstration of the prototypes made, to show case the translation of theories and principles in to real products that are relevant in today’s world. The class representatives from the Department of Mechanical Engineering were on Tuesday 26th November 2013 awarded certificates of service, for the important role of leadership they have played during the first and second semester for the academic year 2013/2014. The ceremony was graced by the Chairman of Mechanical Department Dr. H.N. Ndiritu who presented the certificates to the students and gave a short appreciation speech to acknowledge the work done by the class representatives. The School of Mechanical, Manufacturing and Materials Engineering ladies mentorship forum for the first semester 2013/2014 academic year was held on the 22th May 2013. This forum, steered by Mechanical Engineering department, was privileged to have Ms. Isabella Gaha as the guest speaker. Ms Gaha is currently working with CFC Heritage Life and she is an alumna of Mechanical Engineering Department. The department of Mechanical Engineering held a stakeholders forum at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies in February 2013. This was a one day event that attracted stakeholders such as Kenya Airways, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Kenya Airforce, Kenya Aeronautical Society, Ministry of Transport, Commission for Higher Education, among others. The event involved discussion on the need for aerospace engineering program, the challenges stakeholders have been encountering in retraining graduates in other fields to become aerospace engineers as well as opportunities available for graduates in this program.
