The Young African and Nihon Innovators Expo (YANIE) is a side event of the sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) and will be held at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) which is situated in Kenya, Juja, 36 Kilometres North East of Nairobi along the Nairobi – Thika Highway. The event will bring together African and Japanese Top innovators and link them up to Japanese and African Industrialists in order to tap into the innovative ideas and energies of the African and Japanese youths for socio-economic development of Africa. The Expo will be held on Friday, 26th August 2016, just a day before TICAD VI kicks off in Nairobi, Kenya.
TICAD was launched in 1993 and is held regularly with the objective of promoting high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners. The main Conference will be held from 27 to 28 August 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya. Until TICAD V, the summit-level meetings were held every five years in Japan. From 2016 onwards, the TICAD will be held every three years, hosted alternately in Africa and Japan.
During the YANIE expo, innovators will compete for prizes. Participants will be shortlisted from Japan and African states to exhibit their innovations to industrialists/investors for possible commercialization.
Applications for participation may be made by filling this form. All innovations should be aligned to the TICAD VI theme “Sustainable Development goals, Unleash your potential at TICAD VI”.

o Fishery and Agriculture
o Health
o Technology
o Education
The deadline for applications is 15th July, 2016.
