Application forms can be obtained from the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology, JKUAT or downloaded from the university website indicated below. Duly completed applications forms with copies of results slips/certificates and two coloured passport size photographs must be returned to the Institute by ……………………upon payment of non-refundable application fee of Ksh.1,500.00 for B.Sc. courses and Kshs.500.00 for the Diploma and Certificate courses.

M.Sc. BUSINESS COMPUTING

 

The course covers the application and development of key computer technologies, as well as business management principles by preparing learners with business and management skills in Data Science and Business Analytics. Learners will gain specialist, up-to-date computing, business and management knowledge with this intensive MSc.

 

a.                   Holders of a Bachelor degree in Computing/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Technology/Computer Engineering or related field of at least Upper Second Class Honours from a recognized University.

 

b.                  Holders of a Bachelor degree in

Computing/Computer Science/Information

Technology/Computer Technology/Computer

Engineering or related field of Lower Second Class Honours from a recognized University with at least three years’ experience

 

2 academic years for full time basis

or

3 academic years for:

·         Part-Time

·         Evenings

·         Weekend

·         School-Based

M.Sc. INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT

 

The course will equip learners with knowledge and techniques for effective management of the dynamics in the application of Information Technology to Business processes. This will bridge the gap between technology practitioners and generic managers to produce individuals who are equipped to operate in the corporate environment, yet be aware of the nature of the technology and be able to interact with specialists to deliver successful IT projects.

 

a.                   Holders of a Bachelor degree in Computing/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Technology/Computer Engineering or related field of at least Upper Second Class Honours from a recognized University.

M.Sc. Information Technology The course provides a broad technical understanding of current and evolving technologies in the IT field with an emphasis on moving technology from the laboratory to the realm of business development through its program core courses designed to meet the special need in the society. a.                   Holders of a Bachelor degree in Computing/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Technology/Computer Engineering or related field of at least Upper Second Class Honours from a recognized University.

 

b.                  Holders of a Bachelor degree in Computing/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Technology/Computer Engineering or related field of at least Lower Second Class Honours from a recognized University with at least three years’ experience.

M.Sc. ICT Integration in Education and Instructional Design The course provides ICT Integration skills in education in Kenya that has gained great impetus with the rollout of laptops for schools. Graduates will design training sessions for ICT policymakers and implementers in our country that are underpinned by effective and appropriate instructional design principles and strategies. a.                   Holders of a Bachelor degree of at least Upper Second Class Honors from a recognized University.

 

b.                  Holders of a Bachelor degree of at least Lower Second Class Honors from a recognized University with at least three years experience

B.Sc. in I.T.

(Year 1)

The course provides adequate training, knowledge and skills in order to develop solution providers in the ICT dynamic world and prepare graduates for progression to higher levels of study in their fields of specialization. Mean Grade: C+ (Plus) in KCSE with at least grade C (Plain) in Mathematics and English

 

KACE: TWO Principal passes
An overall PASS in :

·         JKUAT-Diploma Information Technology,

  • JKUAT- Diploma in Management and Information Technology
  • K.S.P.S: both Ordinary and Advanced Diplomas in Information Technology

Or an equivalent qualification recognized by Senate.

(8 semesters offered in trimester system)

B.Sc. in I.T.

(Year II)

Full Time

The course provides adequate training, knowledge and skills in order to develop solution providers in the ICT dynamic world and prepare graduates for progression to higher levels of study in their fields of specialization.      A Credit pass in

  • JKUAT Diploma in IT
  • JKUAT Diploma in Management and IT
  • JKUAT Bridging course in IT
  • KSPS Advanced Diploma in IT

Or any other equivalent qualification approved by the University Senate

B.Sc. in I.T.

(Year II)

Part Time

The course provides adequate training, knowledge and skills in order to develop solution providers in the ICT dynamic world and prepare graduates for progression to higher levels of study in their fields of specialization.

It provides graduates of Diploma in IT to proceed with B.Sc. in IT.

2 and 1/2 Years

(7 Semesters offered in trimester systems -Evenings

B.Sc. Business Computing The course covers all the technical, business, managerial and interpersonal skills necessary for a successful career in ICT and business. Learners acquire soft, business, marketing and sales, business strategy and entrepreneurship skills, which complement a central focus on business software development, linking ICT and the business environment.

 

 

  • Mean Grade: KCSE C+ and grades C in English and Mathematics
  • 2 Principal passes at A level/Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education
  • A pass in JKUAT-Diploma in Computer Technology or Diploma in Management and I.T.
3 Years

Diploma in I.T.

Year I

Full-time

The course is intended to provide students with a wide range of software, technical and technological ICT skills required by industry at the diploma level. A graduate will be expected to develop an IT solution to a practical business problem using an engineering approach.

 

 

  • Mean Grade: KCSE C (Plain) and grades C- in English and Mathematics.
  • Division II in KCE with credit in English and Mathematics
  • KACE certificate with a subsidiary pass in Maths.

Or an equivalent qualification recognized by Senate.

 

18 Months

(Full-time) including attachment

Diploma Mid Entry

(Year I Semester II)

Full-time

The course is intended to provide students with a wide range of software, technical and technological ICT skills required by industry at the diploma level. A graduate will be expected to develop an IT solution to a practical business problem using an engineering approach. It provides graduates of Certificate in IT to proceed with Diploma in IT.

 

– A Distinction/credit passes in JKUAT Information Technology Certificate. 14 Months

(full-time) including attachment

Certificate in I.T.

Full-time

The course is intended to provide students with technical and technological ICT skills required by industry at the certificate level. Provides the graduate with avenue to progression upon attainment of Credit and above. Mean Grade: KCSE grade C-
