The role of the Computing Department is to readily produce computer scientists versatile in the current industrial, environmental and academic research problems and capable of applying their scientific knowledge to problems that could accelerate wealth creation in the country.

The department was founded in the year 2007.  It inherited the programs of BSc. Computer Science and Computer Technology that was then being offered in the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology.
