JKUAT has signed a collaboration agreement with the Wuhan Botanical Garden, Chinese academy of science in the area of biodiversity research. This will incorporate biodiversity surveys that will aid in documenting rare plants and identifying those that have economic value. The representative of International cooperation Wuhan Botanical garden, Chinese Academy of science, Prof. Wang Qing-Feng said that this collaboration will also enhance capacity building through staff and student exchange for research purposes so as to strengthen the biodiversity research in JKUAT. Speaking during the signing ceremony, the vice chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga was pleased that this collaboration will promote growth in the area of biodiversity. She also urged the researchers to use the findings to come up with products which can be developed to tackle diverse issues ranging from medicinal to beauty products. Also present at the ceremony was the Dean Faculty of Science, Dr. Mary Ndungu, Chairperson Botany department Dr. Nancy Budambula and Dr. Robert Gituru senior lecturer in the department of botany.
