JKUAT Mombasa Campus Launches Innovation Hub

JKUAT Mombasa Campus in conjunction with Mvita Constituency has commissioned an Innovation Hub designed to provide students with the necessary tools, training and mentorship to enable them to develop innovations and grow their skills in IT.
This comes in the wake of increased digital growth in the country as a key contributor to the expanding global digital economy.
The Hub that will see students collaborate and build local innovation ecosystems through partnerships, skill-sharing and other opportunities provided by the facility, is a joint collaboration between the University and NGO Partners for Care as the institution provides learners with a favourable environment to build practical innovations.
Speaking at the launch, JKUAT Mombasa Campus director, Dr. Fridah Simba highlighted that the Hub located at the JKUAT Mombasa Campus, will provide training to students and assist them to further their innovations,
“We are excited to collaborate with likeminded partners in creating a much needed space for students to come up with innovations that can solve modern challenges in society, as well as help them adjust to changing technological trends,” Collins Ondago, Deputy director said, adding,
“Through this collaboration, we look to expanding the incubation centre to host over 100 students per time as we produce market ready graduates who will easily fit into the technological world.”
Celebrating the launch, Mvita Mp. Hon Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir appreciated JKUAT Mombasa for the move, calling on the learners to make use of laptops provided by the firm to come up with creative innovations, “We are proud to partner with JKUAT Mombasa on this venture and we look forward to growing with the hub as it expands to accommodate more innovators.” He said.
