APDK Bombolulu workshop and Cultural Centre is a nonprofit organization that works with disabled men and women artisans to help them overcome their physical limitations by empowering them both economically and socially to become fully integrated members of the society.
The organization produces high quality crafts which find their way into the International markets through the World Fair Trade Organization. It boasts five sheltered workshops within the Coastal region that produce a range of Jewelry, leather, wood and soft furnishings some of which are currently being used within or campus.
As a CSR Project, the JKUAT team sought to empower the employees and managers further through the one day training on pertinent areas. This would improve the organisations performance and role in the integration of these marginalized men and women back into their communities. The key areas of training included:
- Effective management skills
- Empowering special needs persons as per the Constitution-
- IT skills/presentation
- Effective marketing
- Planning for retirement
- Financial management
