It was all Pomp and Colour During the 1st Ever Mr & Miss JKUAT Msa

Words cannot describe the level of creativity and ingenuity that characterized the First Ever Mr. and Miss JKUAT Mombasa campus held at the Mombasa Continental Hotel. Organized by JKUSA, the event held on 1st March 2019, was marked by pomp and colour. It was a contest between 4 male and 7 female models who were more than ready to square it out for the prestigious titles in the following categories: Introduction wear, Traditional wear, Professional wear, Creativity wear (Environmental Wear) and Evening wear.The theme of this year’s event was “Beauty meets environment”. The models got to showcase their own creations on various environmental wear and the effect it has to the environment. They walked down the runway showcasing different beautiful attires made using locally made environmental friendly materials such as sacks, straws and woven shopping paper bags from supermarkets. They demonstrated how these materials can be recycled into beautiful attires instead of being thrown away to the environment.

Judges

In a night with so much delight and creativity at its finest, the bench of judges had to be up to the task too. They included Mr. Edwin Shamir (the Chairman Cooperative University of Kenya who is also the Secretary General Coastal Student Association COASTA), Miss Aggy Owilah (Miss University of Nairobi, Mombasa Campus) and Miss Millicent Shari (Choreographer).

The occasion attracted over 250 students, mostly from the campus who came to applaud and offer support to their “squad” members. Strikingly present were JKUAT Mombasa Management as invited guests led by the Director Dr.Fridah Simba and Deputy Director Mr Collins Ondago. Mr Amos Kimanzi (Chair University of Nairobi Mombasa Campus, the Chairman Coastal Student Association COASTA) was also present.

Mr. and Miss University from other campuses could not be left behind this prestigious event and they came in full glamour to support their comrades. They included Mr. and Miss Technical University of Mombasa, Miss Institute of Certified Studies, Mr. and Miss Cooperative University of Kenya, Miss Kenyatta University Mombasa, Mr. and Miss University of Nairobi and Mr. Kabarak University.
The judges had a hard time picking the winner because of the tight race. However, after all is said and done, there must be one woman

How about a pose with the Director & Deputy

for the crown and one noble man for the shield. One beautiful and lovely lady by the name Ms Gracie Olela carried the day and was crowned for the women category and Mr Harry Patta carried the day in the male category at the first ever historical event.
